The Mayfair is one of Aspinal's most
recognisable designs. Introduced in 2007, it quickly became a
modern classic, defined by its structured silhouette, signature
shield lock and distinctive sense of polish. Over time, it has
grown into a complete collection, from the original to the Midi,
Mini, Clutch and Mayfair 2, each variation honouring the same
design codes while offering a different point of view.
The original Mayfair is
architectural and refined, with piped edges, a curved shield flap
and a formal top handle. The Midi brings a smaller, more versatile
scale without compromising the design's sharpness. The Mini is
pared back and precise, a compact reworking that retains every
detail. The Clutch removes the handle entirely, creating a clean,
sculptural profile for evening. Mayfair 2 introduces more angular
lines, a sleeker lock and a heavier chain, reimagining the
silhouette with a contemporary edge.
Every bag is handmade from
full-grain leather using over 1,200 individual components and more
than 800 hand stitches. The process takes over three days to
complete. It is this level of craftsmanship, along with the
design's unmistakable character, that has earned the Mayfair its
place on the arms of HRH The Princess of Wales, Zara Tindall,
Selena Gomez and others with a considered approach to style.
Now firmly part of the cultural and
visual language of British accessories, the Mayfair is not led by
trend but by craft, by structure, and by a sense of lasting
relevance. As Forbes USA wrote: "Think Jane Birkin, with undertones
of English charm."
