What made you pursue a career in floristry?

Growing up, my mother would paint beautiful floral watercolours that she framed and hung throughout our house, and I always knew I would work within the creative industries. I used to live in De Beauvoir and would make a weekly pilgrimage to Colombia road flower market most Sundays with my dear friend Kevin. I loved talking to all the wholesalers and learning all the flower names, varieties and eventually carrying home bundles of fresh flowers. I made the transition from fashion to floristry in 2014, as I had wanted to start my own business for some time. I gained a city and guilds qualification and refined my skills on the McQueen's flower school career course. I come from an entrepreneurial family and felt like I was ready for a new challenge.

Which part of your job do you enjoy the most?

I love the variety of being a florist as no two days are the same. From early flower market runs to site visits in beautiful venues across the UK and lastly creating flowers for a variety of brands and private clients.

What is your favourite flower, and why?

I adore sweet peas for their delicate nature and incredible scent. Peonies come a close second and are often requested by our brides. We have even had brides move their wedding date to coincide with the short Peony season which runs from late April to mid- June.

What is your personal design style?

I studied womenswear design at university and have always favoured a pared-down approach to my personal style. I like to invest in accessories from French and English heritage brands. I always wear jewellery gifted to me from my family from important birthday milestones.

Floristry wise I hope that my designs remain timeless and have a slightly ethereal quality to them while still retaining a luxurious feel to them.

Where do you seek inspiration?

I adore all things cinematic and watch dozens of films each month. I live a couple of tubes stops from the V and A museum and always visit their fashion exhibitions. The garden museum-based next to Lambeth Palace is a wonderful resource and genuinely awe-inspiring. Sarah Louise Law's dried hanging floral installation was a personal favourite. I also love to travel and really enjoyed exploring Lisbon and Marrakech last summer.
