Aspinal of London followers will know that David Gandy has long been a big fan of the brand and close friend for a number of years now. So, when he suggested working together on a new collection, I couldn't have been more excited.
Taking its inspiration from the skies of Great Britain's heroic past, the Aerodrome Collaboration sees David's well-known sense of style meet Aspinal's trademark quality and craftsmanship across a comprehensive collection of 18 pieces of a modern man's accessories and travel kit.
When designing the collection, we worked hard to create a range of products that combined function with fashion. The core leather used is traditional pilot's flying jacket grain and a stunning vegetable tanned golden tan, whilst the hardware closely reflects specific key components of the plane. The lock for several pieces of the collection is an exact copy of the actual Spitfire Mk1 firing button. Other Spitfire design details have been used across the handle holders, studs and zip pulls that are shaped like propellers.
To launch this exciting new range, we knew we had to do something special and agreed where better than at our West Sussex neighbours, Goodwood Aerodrome.
The day began bright and early with David and I greeting members of the country's top pubications before we all got set for our flying lessons around the spectacular air field.
We then enjoyed a delicious lunch, where David and I told the press all about the collaboration and what inspired the collection.
In the afternoon I was lucky enough to fly in a plane myself, creating loop the loop and victory roll formations in the sky!
