Discover Aspinal of London

Guest Edit: Laura Jenkinson, Make-Up Artist

In celebration of our international competition that launches this week with make-up artist, Laura Jenkinson, we've invited her to talk to us all about her creations and how she fell in love with make-up.

What’s your favourite make-up look off the catwalk?

This year I was obsessing over anything with a bit of colour. Tanya Taylor with the bright vibrant lips and Peter Som with the pop of neon liner were my absolute favourites.

How did you get into make-up?

I've always enjoyed makeup as long as I can remember. I used to love doing friends makeup before we went out and decided after 3 years of office work, I needed to have a job where I could be creative and be by own boss!

What’s your must-have Aspinal item?

I've had my Mini Shoulder Buckle Bag in Black Nubuck for a couple of months so it's still my favourite. I've also had my eye on the Cabin Case in Black Pebble for my makeup kit.

What beauty product could you not live without?

I have recently been introduced to Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector. It has changed my life!

What inspired you to start creating beloved characters on your own face?

I wanted to try and stand out and realised how much of a platform social media can be. I wanted to combine these two factors and try to create something a bit different and fun. My inspiration comes from everywhere, films, art and people! I'm constantly jotting down notes and ideas.

What Aspinal gift would you give someone and why?

The Marylebone Cosmetic Case in Navy Pebble of course!

Do you have any advice for aspiring make-up artists?

Self promotion, put yourself out there. Know your worth and don't give up.
