What was your inspiration for this season’s collection?

This season we're celebrating the golden era of elegant travel - on the unique and iconic Orient Express. We've embraced the romance of this simply beautiful train celebrating a bygone era of the grand European tour. RE exploring Aspinal classic styles in their perfect setting we've added a breath-taking and beautiful new range of products with an affectionate nostalgic nod to the past.

What is your favourite piece from the new collection?

It has to be the Aspinal mini hat box, a truly elegant travel essential it ensures you're prepared for the finest of journeys.

What's exciting you right now in fashion?

I love that velvet is still on trend, it is one of my favourite materials and so versatile. I also love embellished bags, they are a great way to express your personal style in a chic way. Some of my best inspiration comes from vintage clothing, so anything relating to that is always on my radar too.

Who do you think is always the best-dressed celebrity at LFW?

I really admire Olivia Palermo's style, she always looks elegant and cool.

What do you love most about LFW?

I love watching the new trends, street style, but most of all presenting our new collection at the timeless and glamorous Claridges Hotel.

Where is your go to spot to relax during LFW?

Well, that's a time when you don't relax at all! But, if I need a bit of time out with friends, we have drinks at the Marks club.

Who is your dream celebrity to see wearing Aspinal of London?

After watching Valerian, I am loving Cara Delevingne, she is the perfect London IT girl!

How would you describe the heritage of the brand?

The Aspinal of London aesthetic is about mixing the best of British culture; the refined English elegance and that innovative London cool. When the brand was founded by Iain Burton, he was working with some of the biggest museums around the world, such as The Louvre, The Vatican, and The National Portrait Galleries, supplying them with beautiful stationery made in England. His original business was creating and supplying audio guides, this then evolved into Aspinal of London. Over the years we adapted and in 2009 introduced our first line of bags, we now have 10 stand alone stores in London. Our biggest flagship store will be opening in St James Market this winter.

If you could bring one handbag back from the Aspinal of London archive, which would it be?

It would have to be the Flora bag - it reminds me of a timeless Fabergé egg or a dream planet covered with perfect enamel flowers. To me, it was the beautiful blend of art and fashion.

What has been your proudest moment since you’ve been at Aspinal of London?

I am always very proud when I see men and women wearing Aspinal of London bags. There is no better feeling than walking down the street and seeing someone with one of our bags, they really are like my babies. So much time and effort is spent perfecting them, so seeing people enjoying them is priceless. Also presenting our new collections at Claridges makes me immensely proud. Each presentation is so exciting, they are like a celebration of everything Aspinal and they really represent the timeless elegance behind the brand.

Where do you see the brand in the next 5 years?

We are planning to expand to China and the US, it's one of our main aims right now, and will see Aspinal of London grow in an exciting way. In terms of design, we are constantly striving to develop more categories, but that's top secret right now!

What advice would you give to people trying to make a career in fashion?

Always do what you love and never give up. Coming from a different country I always say to British young people, they are so lucky to be born here. Britain represents freedom and opportunity so I would say make the most of this. It's a cliché, but the world is truly your oyster, just be the best of yourself every day, and grasp every opportunity you can.

If you're lucky enough to attend LFW2017 or can make it to the London Fashion Weekend following the week's decedent proceedings, make sure to see the collection that has got us and Mariya so excited.
