Each Aspinal of London album and book is polished with various hues and natural stains and waxes, to give the leather its beautiful depth of colour, tone and texture. This time consuming technique is rarely employed by leather craftsmen today. Only by utilising these traditional skills and methods, can we combine the authenticity and quality of 17th Century hand craftsmanship together with classically elegant and also chic contemporary designs - for lovers of exquisite collectable objects.

Leather is a strong, durable and tactile material. Part of its attraction is its natural character, tones and smell. The leather used in creating Aspinal products is tanned using natural plant extracts such as bark and rind, chestnut and mimosa and other organic dyes. It is hand treated with oils or beeswax to enhance its intensity and so that the only real after care needed is an occasional buffing with a soft cloth.

All leathers and paper materials we use are of the highest grade. The internal pages and album leaves are buttery cream and album leaves are pH balanced acid free with each leave covered in acid free tissue - to ensure that family memories, heirlooms and special occasions can be treasured for a life time and more.
